What is cavitation, and why does it cause irreparable damage to the engine?
The crankshaft rotates horizontally when the piston moves vertically at a high frequency. These divergent motions cause strong vibrations in the surface structure of the engine cylinders. Although the external cylinder wall is surrounded by antifreeze, the flow inertia creates vacuum pockets. The resulting air bubbles explode, tearing out small pieces of metal.
About 40% of engine faults are due to cooling system problems.
Engine failures are manifested as follows:
🔺1) Sagging of piston rings;
🔺2) Piston wear;
🔺3) Burnout of valves;
🔺4) Corrosion of bearings;
🔺5) Destruction of the pump.
